I study chemical weathering reactions of minerals, rocks, and glasses, with an emphasis on understanding this important process using a multi-scalar approach. This encompasses nanoscale measurements of fluid-solid interfaces to determine mechanisms of chemical alteration, laboratory experiments to quantify chemical weathering kinetics, and observations of natural weathering in outcrops to see if what happens in nature can be linked to weathering simulated in the laboratory.
