Undergraduate internships

ISTerre is proud to welcome many interns as part of its ongoing mission to enhance scientific research education. ISTerre internships allow individuals to shadow sector professionals within a dynamic lab environment in order to discover the many facets of Earth Sciences research.

Internships at ISTerre provide opportunities to meet laboratory scientists, engineers and technicians. As an interdisciplinary research institute focused on our planet Earth, the different research areas studied are multiple and varied : Geology, physics, chemistry, and applied mathematics that study objects as small as an atom or as large as an entire planet!

The internships are organized by half-day, during which time interns are mentored by a scientist, engineer, or technician. A few examples of 2017-2018 students’ subject areas include :

  • Landslides
  • Earthquakes
  • Subsoil imaging
  • Soil pollution
  • Mineral study
  • Volcanology
  • The planet Mars
