Gas sorption and textural properties

Page author: Valérie Magnin.

Devices allowing the aquisition of adsorption/desorption isotherms for a large number of gases (N2, Kr, Ar, CO2, H2...) but also condensable vapours (H2O...). Complementary, these equipments allow to have access to a large amount of informations on the studied materials from the determination of the specific surface area to the access of the micro and mesoporosity of the powders or to measure the quantities of water adsorbed according to the relative humidity.

Powder, massif solid
Technical datas: - 3 degassing stations located at the analysis ports: ambient temperature to 550°C under secondary vacuum
 3 analysis ports
Pressure sensors on each port: 133 kPa et 1.33 kPa
 Pressure range: p/p0= 10-4 à 0.997
- 2 degassing stations independant of the analysis station : ambient temperature to 450°C under secondary vacuum
 1 analysis port
Pressure sensors on the analysis port: 133 kPa, 1.33kPa et 13.3 Pa
 Pressure range: p/p0= 10-6 à 0.997
Possible types of analysis:
- Measurement of very small specific surface areas with Kr
Determination of nitrogen specific surface areas using the BET or Langmuir methods
Measurement of nitrogen adsorption and desorption isotherms and determination of the distribution of micropores (<2nm) and/or mesopores (2nm-50nm) by t-plot, Horvath-Kawazoe, BJH, NLDFT, DFT methods.
Measurement of adsorption and desorption isotherms of water vapour, CO2, hydrogen at different temperatures...
 Density measurement
