GEODATA Service

French version

The GeoData group is made up of engineers and technicians:

  • hosted at ISTerre,
  • affiliated to ISTerre or OSUG,
  • belonging to the Branche d’Activités Professionnelles E (Informatique, Statistiques et Calcul scientifique),
  • but not belonging to the ISTerre IT infrastructure service.

Geophysical Data Centre

The local activities of the Résif Research Infrastructure are housed at ISTerre : SNO RAP the Sismob platform the Résif data centre. Located in office 035, their IT specialists are members of GeoData and can be called upon for any help concerning the hosting and distribution of seismological data.
< !— The RESIF data centre’s mission is to distribute and archive all data from the French permanent and mobile seismological networks.
ISTerre’s GEODATA department was in charge of prototyping (...)

Data mining

The IT dedicated to the intensive exploitation of large volumes of data is mainly related to the research activities of the Ondes team, activities related to methods based on ambient noise. This expertise is at the interface between geophysicists, HPC specialists and databases in the context of national and European projects.
The codes and associated documentation developed as part of the activity "Data Mining" are accessible in the Forge GitLab GRICAD (or the Forge OSUG for projects not (...)

Satellite data, InSAR

We are developing satellite radar data processing tools for ground motion analysis. As these tools have to handle ever-increasing data flows and volumes, HPC and distributed computing expertise has been added to take advantage of regional computing infrastructures.
Our processing chain NSBAS relies on the ROI_PAC software roipac.org of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory/Calltech to manage the processing of radar interferometry data (InSAR) from raw radar data provided by space agencies to time (...)

Satellite data, GNSS

We are developing automatic double difference processing of GNSS data for the ground motion and strain analysis. This is a massive processing using the suite of programs GAMIT-GLOBK developed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Harvard University.
In particular, we are working on GNSS data processing for the EPOS (European Plate Observing System) project, where a large amount of data requires adapting the processing chain. As part of this (...)

Seiscope

French version
Project overview: SEISCOPE is a research project dedicated to the development and application of high-resolution imaging methods of the subsurface, at various scales, ranging from the near surface (a few meters deep) to the deep crust (several tens of kilometers). These methods are mainly based on the inversion of complete seismic waveforms (Full Waveform Inversion). The goal is to determine the mechanical properties of the studied medium (e.g. P and S wave velocity, (...)
