 Amount: 12 000 €.

Project description

"Since 30 years of observation by SISMALP, the analysis of seismicity along the Belledonne Boundary Fault (BBF) shows a seismicity deficit on a segment between La combe de Lancey and Pontcharra. The COVID-19 crisis and the lowering of the noise level at the monitoring stations revealed activity on this segment, composed of small magnitude earthquakes, which are difficult to detect in normal situations with the current network configuration. This deficit raises questions about the microseismic activity of this segment, its current coupling and the local seismic hazard (i.e., maximum magnitude and occurrence). The objective of this project is to increase our monitoring capacity of this segment through the deployment of permanent and temporary stations in Belledonne. This project will allow us to refine the assessment of seismic hazard and risk in the Grenoble basin. The financial request comes in addition to resources acquired from observation services (equipment in particular) and project resources (in particular SISM@LP-Swarm)".
