Seismology

ISTerre and OSUG contribute to the national observation service’s (SNO) seismology branch through the establishment and maintenance of permanent seismological monitoring stations in the French Alps. Collected data is used to study French Alpine seismicity and is conducted thanks to SISMALP. Wide-band RLBP-RESIF stations record land movements on a vast range of frequencies for a vast series of applications. Finally, RAP/RESIF accelerometric stations record land accelerations for applications based on the study of seismic risks.

Seismicity: SISMALP

Alpes SISMALP, a seismological network, contributes to knowledge concerning seismotectonics and seismic hazards through its work in seismic monitoring.

Velocimetric network: RLBP Alpes

**Scientific objectives
The Broadband Permanent Network (RLBP) enables the study of the Earth’s crust and mantle throughout France, and to locate earthquakes on the French mainland. **Organization
ISTerre’s monitoring and observation services is in charge of the installation, management, and monitoring of all stations in the northern Alps’ Broadband Permanent Network (RLBP), whose data is distributed by the RESIF database. This network’s development is part of the master plan for RESIF, a (...)

Accelerometric network: RAP Alpes

***Scientific objectives This network hopes to improve our knowledge concerning significant land shifts in France (mainland and overseas departments) due to earthquakes. This is being carried out thanks to the installation of a network of stations and the creation of a free-access database, which enable the shared promotion of the various parties involved in assessing hazard and seismic risks.
RAP is a member of the French seismological and geodesic network (RESIF).
***Implementation The (...)

Inventory of mobile seismological instruments: SISMOB

**Scientific objectives The Inventory of Mobile Seismological Instruments (SISMOB) enables the collection of targeted seismological data, as a complement or substitute to permanent seismological observatories.
**Organization ISTerre is charged with the technical and scientific management of SISMOB’s national inventory and is a member of the national French seismological and geodesic network (RESIF). The ISTerre team oversees the planning and use of all material. The captors, digitizers, and (...)
