Field Research

 East Africa Rift (Rwanda, Uganda) (2022-present)  : Link beween volcanic ash fall out, soil mineralogical (halloysite and imogolite nanotubes, nanomagnetite), chemical properties (pH, organic matter) in deforested and intensively eroded soils, and the development of Podoconiosis, an « elephant foot » type disease affecting poor peasants walking bare-foot on the East African Rift volcanic soils ; soil sampling ; Blood, urine and skin sampling of patients and controls (intense collaboration with local hospitals) ; Sociological study on the social impact of the disease.

  South East Asia (2009-2019)  : Microbiology, chemistry and mobility of Arsenic in large delta aquifers : Bengal (India), Mekong (Vietnam and cambodia), Pearl River (China)  ; Field sampling with depth, lab study and modelling.

 French Guyana (1999-2006)   : In charge during 4 years (the co-PI during the following 4 years) of a large CNRS Programme entitled « Mercure en Guyane » and including 12 different teams (atmospheric chemists, biologisqts, microbiologists, marine chemists..)
