Alps on the Move

Why does the Earth shake in the Alps, and what are the consequences? In this workshop, students will explore the origins of Alpine earthquakes, where and when they occur, and their frequency. Using observation data and concrete examples, they will understand how tectonics influence ground movements and cause damage to structures. The workshop will also cover earthquake prevention and safety measures through interactive experiments and observations. An exciting immersion into Alpine seismology that connects science, fieldwork, and safety.
