Journey to the Heart of the Alps

Objectives : Découvrir la géomorphologie alpine grâce à l’observation, aux maquettes et aux roches.

For : Middle and High School Students

What lies beneath the topography of the Alps? In this workshop, students will discover how relief and erosion reveal the deep structure of mountains and help us understand their formation. Using 3D topographic maps, they will identify faults and learn how they work through block models and analog experiments with sand. Students will also examine river sands and the crystalline and sedimentary rocks of the Western Alps under optical and binocular microscopes, linking field observations, minerals, and geological structures. A hands-on, immersive experience to explore Alpine geomorphology and tectonics in a concrete and interactive way.
