Spin the Core

Objectives : Discover how the Earth’s core creates the magnetic field through interactive experiments and simulations

For : Middle and High School Students

In this workshop, students will dive into the heart of the geodynamo; the engine that generates Earth’s magnetic field. They will carry out small experiments to observe electromagnetic induction and understand how the movement of conducting fluids inside the core produces a magnetic field. Using satellite data, they will virtually explore the Earth’s core and discover its characteristics. Finally, they will interact with digital simulations to visualize the dynamics at work in the Earth’s core and other planets, comparing different models and scenarios. This workshop connects theoretical concepts, hands-on observations, and scientific modeling in a meaningful way.
