Volcano Watch



Objectives : Observe and measure changes in a volcano before an eruption using satellites.

For : Middle and High School Students

Volcanoes have no secrets for satellites! Using 3D models of Indonesia’s Merapi volcano, students will assess how the volcano’s morphology changes during eruptions. They will learn how different types of satellites are used to monitor volcanoes, helping to reduce risks for local populations. An interactive experience to understand how volcanologists conduct research in the age of modern technology.
