Institut des Sciences de la Terre

The Institute of Earth Sciences (ISTerre) is one of the main laboratories of the Grenoble Observatory of the Sciences of the Universe. ISTerre is dedicated to the physical and chemical study of planet Earth. By combining the observation of natural objects, experimentation, and the modeling of complex phenomena, the institute analyzes the processes related to the major systems of Earth’s interior.

Education

ISTerre offers school visits adapted to the age and level of the students. These visits offer an immersive experience into the world of geoscience research, exploring the phenomena that shape our planet: earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, and more. Students will have the opportunity to discover the instruments, laboratories, and experiments that help scientists better understand the Earth in depth. Visit ISTerre
