Junior Research Director Position (CPJ) in Urban Seismology at ISTerre – Université Gustave Eiffel
The selected candidate will initially be hired for a three-year term as a Junior Research Director by Université Gustave Eiffel (UGE) and hosted at the ISTerre laboratory. By the end of this period, the candidate is expected to have :
- Built a strong international scientific reputation,
- Demonstrated research autonomy,
- Obtained (or be in the process of obtaining) the Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (Accreditation to supervise PhD candidates - HDR),
- Secured independent research funding.
These achievements will be taken into consideration at the end of the three-year period for permanent integration into the UGE/ISTerre unit as a full Research Director.
The successful applicant will develop cutting-edge research in urban seismology, with potential areas of emphasis including :
- Monitoring of urban components (subsurface, structures, infrastructures),
- Innovative wavefield analysis in urban environments :
- Ambient seismic noise,
- Application of metamaterials to urban settings,
- Use of dense sensor networks (including fiber-optic systems),
- Environmental geophysics,
- Time-lapse (4D) monitoring.
Teaching & Community Involvement
A limited teaching load (approx. 50 hours/year) in the Master’s program at Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) is expected.
The candidate will also contribute to the organization and development of a summer school in urban seismology.
