Advances in Active Fault Research in France : FACT Meeting (EPOS France) 2026

The plenary meeting of the axis 5 Active Faults France (FACT) of EPOS France will take place on Tuesday, June 16 in Salle Dolomieu. This event will be followed on June 17 by a field excursion in the Alps region.

The FACT axis, integrated into the thematic cross-cutting “seismicity” action of EPOS France, aims to improve the identification of seismic sources in France. In particular, it seeks to build the most comprehensive possible database of active faults in the Quaternary, thereby contributing to a better understanding of seismic hazards across the territory.

This network brings together a broad community of academic and institutional scientists, beyond the scope of EPOS France. It is organized into nine regions in metropolitan France, with an additional tenth region in the Antilles, integrated since October 2025.
