Conference "Progress in Socio-hydrology : A Meta-analysis of Challenges and Opportunities" (Campus Grenoble)

Le pôle de recherche PAGE organise une conférence à l’occasion de la venue en France du Professeur Murugesu SIVAPALAN (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering & Department of Geography and Geographic Information Science - University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign).

Cette conférence exceptionnelle aura lieu le mardi 28 mars 2017 de 11h à 12h dans l’amphi G du Centre des Langues Vivantes (CLV - Domaine universitaire de Saint-Martin-D’Hères). Un buffet sera ensuite offert aux personnes présentes.

 Biography

Murugesu Sivapalan trained as a Civil Engineer at the University of Ceylon, and later obtained the MEng degree in Water Resources Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and PhD in Civil Engineering from Princeton University. Prior to his PhD, Sivapalan worked for 3 years as a consulting civil engineer in Nigeria. Post-PhD he taught at the University of Western Australia for 17 years, before joining UIUC in 2005. He was founding chair of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) “Predictions in Ungauged Basins” decadal initiative, and Executive Editor of the Hydrology and Earth System Sciences journal. Dr Sivapalan has received the European Geosciences Union’s John Dalton and Alfred Wegener Medals, the International Hydrology Prize of the IAHS, and the Robert E. Horton Medal of the American Geophysical Union. He was also the recipient of the Centenary Medal of the Australian Government and an Honorary Doctorate of the Delft University of Technology.
