Étienne Jaillard Master Class | 6 May – 9:30

On 6 May starting at 9:30, a Master Class on the sedimentary record will be held in the lecture hall, coordinated by Étienne Jaillard.

This session offers an integrated perspective on sedimentary archives, linking tectonic dynamics, depositional environments, and biosphere evolution.

This Master Class provides a cross-scale approach to sedimentary interpretation, from tectonics to biological signals, towards a unified view of Earth’s sedimentary archives.

Program

09:30 – 10:15 | François Guillocheau (Rennes)

From mantle dynamics to landscapes and sand grains : surface processes and tectonic signals
(with a note on the uplift of South Africa)

10:15 – 11:00 | Fabienne Giraud & Jean-Louis Latil

Biogeography and ancient marine environments : evolution and palaeoenvironments

11:00 – 11:45 | Étienne Jaillard

The sedimentary record : reading and integrating Earth’s archives
