Contributions to seismic interferometry: looking for new seismic observations at geophysical scales
Tuesday 1 April 2025 - 14h00
Pierre Boué - ISTerre---
Soutenance HDR. The talk will focus on the direction we have taken in recent years in the exploitation of the ambient seismic wave field (a.k.a. noise) and in particular in the observation and use of body waves. Interferometric observations (i.e. by correlation) of wave propagation at large scales in the Earth's mantle and core will be presented. The importance of taking oceanic forcing into account for predicting these observations will be highlighted. The transposition of this approach to other scales, particularly for the crust, will be discussed. Short- and medium-term prospects will also be addressed.
