A Near Surface Full Waveform Inversion Case Study from Blair Wallis Wyoming, USA
Thursday 6 July 2023 - 11h00
Ben Eppinger - Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University---
The near-surface presents one of the most challenging environments for seismic imaging due to the extremely dynamic mechanical properties of weathered materials and significant heterogeneity in the shallow subsurface. Nonetheless, developing strategies for overcoming these challenges is worthwhile because of the near-surface's importance in respect to societal and environmental issues. Here we present a workflow for developing high resolution images of the near-surface via the use of full waveform inversion.
