Scientific topics
The objective of our research on the rupture and deformation of terrestrial objects is to better understand the processes behind potential instabilities and catastrophic events such as earthquakes, landslides, and rockfalls.
We combine theoretical analysis, laboratory experiments, numerical modelling, and field measurements (seismology, GNSS, imaging) to explore spatial scales ranging from the laboratory to the geophysical objects themselves, and temporal scales ranging from micro-scale brittle processes to the seasonal cycle, to the decadal seismic cycle.
